ELENA KRISTOFOR (AUSTRIA)
Elena Kristofor, born and raised in Odesa, Ukraine, is a visual artist based in Vienna. Her work explores the tension and confrontation between the vast, open landscapes of the steppe and the verticality of the forest. These different natural environments deeply influence her work and are reflected in her subjects such as foreignness, threat, loss of identity and the search for a localization.
Kristofor works mainly with the media of photography and installation. She studied architecture at the Vienna University of Technology and art and photography and art at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Kristofor combines photography, drawing and sculptural elements to address the boundaries between two- and three-dimensionality and express her deep personal experiences and reflections.
