World Garden Mongolia reforestation area is situated in the slope of the mountain Bayanzurkh, 20km from the city center. Covered with larch forest until 1989, 420 hectares of forest in this area has been destroyed due to uncontrolled illegal logging and the migration of Siberian cocoons. Launched in 2011, by environmental activist Erdenechuluun Dulamjav (Chuka), the World Garden Mongolia reforestation project has managed to plant over 13,000 trees with the participation of local and international communities. The organization aims to create a children’s camp and summer educational center in this reforestation area. To make this place lively, World Garden Mongolia is willing to collaborate with artists, art organizations and donor communities to turn public areas into open-air art space through creating interactive artworks such as site-specific installations, mural paintings, and sculptures.

Erdenechuluun Dulamjav (Chuka) is a Founder and Director of BOD of World Garden Mongolia, an avid environmental activist, who lives and works between Ulaanbaatar and Berlin. Since 2011, Chuka has been actively calling on leaders, people, and organizations to take action and join his initiative to tackle climate change. In the photo on right side, Chuka is meeting President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, seeking support for realizing his reforestation initiative.
